COACH JOHN Neal

John Neal spent forty-one years coaching Division I college football. He was a former team captain and honorable mention All-American defensive back at BYU. He started coaching at the University of New Mexico as a full-time assistant in 1981. Since then, he has coached at East Tennessee State University, Oregon State University, the University of Pacific in California, Ole Miss, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the University of Oregon, back to UAB, and finally back to the University of Oregon. Whew! A coach's life.

He and his wife Jan live in Eugene, Oregon, and have three adult children and six grandchildren,

His post-football life is full of tennis, snorkeling, fly fishing, deer hunting, riding a bull named Fu Man Chu, and golf—lots of golf. There is also reading, writing, and, most recently, drawing.

John and Jan are Ducks.
